Future

So, I was talking with the man who helped give me life the other day and he was talking to me about how everyone has to make a lot of money so they can be happy and succeed in life and have everything they want. It just got me very pissed, because this man and I don't really get along and outr beliefs and ways of thinking are totally different, we disagree on almost everything and he thinks that my way of thinking is incorrect because he is so damn ignorant. What do you think about the stupidities he said?

He's right, having alot of money will bring you happiness and make your life much easier. But the way you approach that has to be through your passion, by doing something you love and won't kill your self every morning to do.

You where probually really mad because your dad was just trying to make you happy and live the best way possible. I mean tell me would you want to be poor?

I've actually though a lot about this before. If you think deeply about it, it can be pretty astonishing. People can actually be made content with ownership of material possesions. I'll admit I feel happier after I buy somehting that I've wanted for a while. But then I wonder why it makes me happy. I was blissful when I bought my newest guitar, but why did spending $550 dollars for a guitar make me happy? I guess so that I could have fun playing it. But then I thought: why is it fun for me to play the guitar? I don't know. It just is. It's weird how someone can work an entire lifetime just to buy things.

Well first off, I don't think that it is fair for anyone to dismiss someones opinion...but I can understand the eagerness of your dad trying to make you understand what he thinks.

I have thought about this question, and I think that you must try to do what makes you happy. The only thing, is that you need to be careful to not be selfish. What I mean by that, is that you must think of your future kids, or the lives of others that you may hurt if you choose the path that you do. If you decide to be an artist as your job profession, then be it. Just, don't do it half-heartedly, because then if you are held back by what others belive you should do, you are never going to get the chance to be great at that one thing, and the feeling of guilt will drain you.

It is obvious that money pays an essential role in our world, and is the factor that differs the social achievements from one person and another. In my opinion, money is real important but it should not be seen as a central goal of life (as it is perceived by many). There are people that don't suffer from the lack of money, because is exists in abundance for them, but that materialistic world is intangible with that of the spiritual life, which I think is more important (Spiritual and religious are two different things). As money can buy almost anything, it can serve as a benefactor somehow in that pursuit of happiness. However, that pursuit of happiness is never going to depend on the economy.
