I don't know who created life, and I don't think it will ever be possible to know. Some believe it was made in a week, some think an evil inter-galactic emperor sent souls to earth which landed in a volcano and later entered the bodies of humans. I think that each galaxy is like a marble in a bag that's played with by someone or something bigger. Sort of like a kid playing with dolls. I don't really have faith in any religion. I personally believe that the Bible is fictional and meant to teach lessons with the stories. But that's just me.
No I have always professed a version of Ludic fallacy. Humans simply put, ascribe too much to the stochastic. We see this phenomenon in virtually every endeavor. In sports, pundits talk of a team being "due" for a win, but what does this mean and how do we know when a team is due? Humans ascribe too much of the unknown into a pattern that purports to explain both the knowns as well as the unknowns. Hence, much of what we think we know is due to pattern recognition which assumes a similarity between known observations and an inferred pattern, consequently, there must be a disconnect between the two, hence, in non-mathematical or tautological instances, we can never be sure.
Justin and Bos, I completely agree with both of your guys and that's why everything is such a mystery to me.. Justin you're probably right we will never know the answers to those types of questions.
I would like to read about your ideas, your opinions. Yes, posing questions to your readers is great, but your blog should be a platform for so much more.
Fair enough Mrs. Stoklosa. Well I believe that in some odd way we all came to be. The most reasonable answer, to me, would be somewhat like Mr. Boswell's explanation. That we all came to be due to a biological foundation and perhaps, like Justin said, there might be something greater that made this all happen, but how do we really know that? The most logical answer would be that we evolved throughout the years, but even that could not be explained accuratley. Maybe faith in religion is not the answer, maybe one could believe so much until there are certain things, like this, that cannot be explained by faith or cannot be trusted 100%. The other day I had a talk with my female parental guardian about this topic. She, in my opinion, was ignorant because she was not capable to open her mind and try to see like me. After a while of asking her questions she even started to question herself. At first she would tell me that if I had faith and believed in "God" everything would be okay, but after a while she started to see why it was that I thought like I thought. I don't believe or trust in much and that is why this is all one big mystery to me. In the Theology class that I am obligated to go to every sunday morning the professor speaks about God and how his power is inmense and so on and so forth, yet she is very open minded and understands why I doubt. She respects my opinions and sometimes I ask her questions that not even she has the answers to. This, in a way, frustrates her because I guess I make her feel uncomfortable by making her doubt also. Well, I'll see u guys in the next posting !
Well if we can be honest with ourselves for just one second we'd realize that there's no "factual" way of knowing who created life. And to have faith in anything brings about the chance of being let down, whether it be your friends or your family, or even the religion you currently hold as true. We have been taught to look towards and depend on everyone but ourselves. At the end of the day that's all we have and that's the only person you won't be let down by. I have always had faith in myself, i believe i exist therefor i know i exist, i can prove it with facts and knowledge. To me, no one and nothing matters most in life than yourself, gods, politics, and materialism comes afterwards.
I agree with Kurt, there is NO factual way to know who created life. It all depends on religions. If religions and beliefs never existed, then everyone would be going crazy asking each other who created life and how we came to be. And faith, if you are going to be asking yourself that qustion until you get the answer, then you are never going to be able to live your life.
I was raised with the strong premise that we were all created by God. But all takes on the origin of life contradict themself. There is no definite answer. I will say, however, that I firmly believe we were created by God.
Faith in this belief wavers among all, regardless of someone's averse plea, simply because of the contradiction. Why can't you see heaven? Why can't you touch hell? If God is real, why do men die (of course the explanation to this is in Bible)? We may as well ask the common, "what came first, the chicken or the egg?"
Bos, you really captivate the standerds of what a true AP Biology teacher should have. Being Bos my teacher i have had the oppurtunity to be involved and disguisingly engaged in the rare conversations of how everything came to be in the biological standpoint. In truth, the most we could agree to was it all occured by "chance", that term and idea seems aggrevating to the majority mostly because it leaves the answer even broader than before, asking more why? questions. Its so difficult to answer such questions considering religion makesa distinct path to another complete set of questions. Everyone has been taught different morals and beliefs hence coming to a general agreement is utterly impossible. I stand firmly on the fact that if we dont know its maybe becasue we are better off that way, we aren't quite ready. I hope we will be sometime soon, though.
The creation of life is something that everyone believes in with no reasoning. We're all so positive that we exist, but we don't even really know that. This could all be some elaborate dream I'm having, I could be the smallest most insignificant little creature in existence, having a dream that I'm replying to someones blog online as a human being. Having faith in a creator, would also take having faith in your existence at all. So yes I have faith I would say, I have faith that there is something fathomable that could have somehow manifested this intricate biosphere, yet at the same time I have no faith or confidence to tell you exactly what that fathomable being is. So I'm not even sure what faith is, so maybe I don't have faith.
I am 16 years old and live in Weston, FL. I have many questions about different things and hope that maybe someone can help me out by attempting to answer them or just simply giving your opinions!
