Run Away?

Why were we made? To be kept under the rules of others or to be independent? I think that Everyone should be able to follow their own rules and learn from their own mistakes. I do not think it's fair to be so independent but to be held back from so many things just because someone thinks that they have complete power over you.

I agree and I don't think it's fair either. I don't mean to sound pessimistic, but there's not much we can do about it. We can always make the effort to aid certain humanitarian issues but we'll never fully tackle the problem of authoritarianism. As long as the public is blinded by its true right to live freely, it won't. The problem isn't only that others think they have complete power over us, but also that the people are too stupid to realize that as a mass they are bigger, stronger, and have the ability to overthrow any dictatorial oppression. Power to the people!

I understand what you are saying Olga. People should not baby us, so that we can learn from our mistakes. I am a believer in trial and error, where we will eventually learn right from wrong by ourselves. But adults shall be adults, and we will still have to listen to them...

I agree with this completely. Independence is one of life's most priced possessions along with freedom. We should not be treated like pets when people want us to do something. I do think that our parents should have somewhat control over us or else we would not learn, but I do not think it's necessary to be locked up in the house or be prohibited to do certain things. Growth comes from experience and that is how we learn our rights and wrongs. Thankfully, my parents seem to agree with me because they are very understanding and not too strict.
